Freshmen of 2006 (7/3)
Let's start praying that the Lord prepares the hearts of the incomeing freshmen this fall. In this, join me in praying that the Lord leads us to the students in amazing ways- opening doors and jump starting conversations on campus that encourage them to incorporate Christ into their college life experience. Let's pray that the Lord use us as great examples of how a student can walk with Christ during college- and still have fun!!! Let's also pray that the spirit fills us with ideas of how to best reach the students! (ie: community events, games, outreaches, etc) If you are interested in helping me plan specific events for the freshmen this fall, please email me at wynneash@umich.edu God bless, ya'll! Hope you're having a great summer!!!

Free Hao Wu (3/23)
Free Hao WuPlease pray that Hao Wu will be released from jail in China.
From Iria Puyosa:
Hao Wu is a graduate from UM-School of Business MBA program, and he went back to China a couple of years ago to work as a filmmaker. He was arrested on February 22, and no charges have been made so far. His family has been unable to talk to him. His friends suspect that he has been arrested in connection with a video-documentary he was recording on Christian Chinese clandestine churches. More info at http://ethanzuckerman.com/haowu/

from: Roger Hershey

Dear special friends and prayer warriors, Our hearts are very heavy as we write to tell you of our grief. Yesterday, our son Brett was killed in Afghanistan. As most of you already know, he had been there since last July with the Army National Guard. He was driving in a convoy 50 miles outside of Kabul when the vehicle he was riding in hit a land mine and all four men in the vehicle, including Brett, were killed. Please pray for us as you can imagine the great pain we are in. Pray for grace for us as we have many details to work out in the coming days. We know that you love us and that means so much at this time.

Thank you so much for your prayers. That will get us through this. God is still good. Love, Roger and Roxanane

PS The memorial service will probably be this week-end in Indianapolis for any of you might want to come - we don't have any details yet because we are not sure when his body will arrive in the states from Afghanistan.

Dear Friends,

Some of you may have already been made aware, but there is some very tragic, very sad news to share, even on this glorious day wherein which our Lord triumphed over the grave. Praise God that He did, that He conquered the horror of death! Please read the email from Roger first before you read more of what is written here. ,

We were able, by the grace of God, to talk to Roger yesterday. He and Rox are devastated, numb from the shock and pain of losing their son. They are clinging to the Lord and asking for us all to pray for them. Pray for Nicki and Craig as they fly up today from Dallas. Pray for Abby and Nate through all this. And, please also be in prayer for who was to be their Daughter-in-law, Liz Keller. Brett and Liz were to be married in November and were coming on staff in January to then come back to our region. ,

Pray, as well, for Jeff, Lisa and Jill and for the movement at IU where Brett was a student. This will hit the movement so heavily. Pray for Brett's fraternity brothers at the Sigma Chi house. Roger asked for special prayer as he prepares a message for the funeral. Pray specifically for the Gospel to be clear and bold as Roger knows Brett would have wanted a strong, effective message preached to his frat brothers. ,

And, Roger asked that we'd pray for he and Roxanne: that they'd keep clinging to the Lord, feel the freedom to grieve but remain strong in faith and hope. Pray our Lord would be glorified and use His servant's death as a reminder of God's Sovereignty, Love and Holiness. ,

He is Risen; He is Risen, Indeed, Todd ,

Jenny Brusoe's Mother (3/16)
I have an urgent prayer request for you all. Jenny Brusoe's mom was just diagnosed with leukemia today. The kind of leukemia that her mom has is called acute myelogenus leukemia, (AML) which is a fast acting cancer which doesn't spread like other cancers, but unfortunately she has had it for awhile.

She will be admitted to the hospital tomorrow and they will start the chemo on Thursday or Friday. She will start the first of three rounds of chemo on Thursday or Friday. After the first round they will do a bone marrow biopsy and they will know a lot more then.

Neither of her parents, her sister Julie, and her brother Andy, know the Lord. What Jenny desires most from you is to pray that God would use this whole process to bring them to faith in Christ. Her main concern is their salvation, yet it would be great to see the Lord save her family and still heal her mom, so please pray to that end.

The God who worked so miraculously in Sarah's life can do the same in Jenny's mom's, so let's lift her up to giver of physical and spiritual life.

Please pray that I would be seeking out the Lord first and foremost this semester. Next, that through that, I would gain a greater understanding of where He would have me after this semester.

Erik Steffen's Brain Cancer (1/20)
Erik Steffen is Cru staff in Indianapolis. He has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called gliosarcoma. Please pray that he will be healed and God to be exalted through that.
From Erik's wife, Kelly,

Please be praying:

That we would choose to believe God's goodness and trust Him moment by moment (it's easy to dwell on what could happen).

That God would give Erik vigor to fight hard (today he said he was ready to kick some sarcoma butt). :)

Erik and I are 12 weeks pregnant, so please pray for the health of this little one. I've been losing weight recently.
Pray for our 15 month son, Alex, who isn't going to understand all that is going on and why daddy isn't going to be feeling so great.

Pray for a miracle because that's what it will take.

Tsunami Victims (1/20)
Please pray for Southeast Asia, India and Africa that people will not get sick from polluted water and their infrastructure will return to sufficient levels soon. If you want to donate, a great Christian organization is www.samaritanspurse.org. Franklin Graham is the president. They help ministry to the people's physical and spiritual needs.
